Dr. Ivan Simmons is a Dermatologist who is a fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists. He graduated from Adelaide University in 1967 with degrees in Medicine and Surgery and was a Resident at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and subsequently The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
He was Registrar in Dermatology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and completed his fellowship of The Australasian College of Dermatologists in 1973. He is the longest serving Dermatologist in South Australia.
He has fulfilled the role as Head of Unit at The Royal Adelaide Hospital Dermatology Department, Visiting specialist to the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Julia Farr Centre, Flinders Medical Centre, Queen Victoria Hospital and South Australian Mental Health Services. He has worked as Consultant Dermatologist at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (UK). Over the years he has taught many medical students and dermatology registrars.
He deals with all aspects of general dermatology and has special interests in psoriasis, inflammatory disorders of the skin and hyperhidrosis. He frequently attends national and international Dermatology meetings.
Dr Duguid retired in December 2025. We would like to thank him for his dedicated care over the years and wish him well in his retirement.
Dr. Elizabeth Christou is a dermatologist who is a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists and a member of The American Academy of Dermatologists.
She grew up in Adelaide and completed a Bachelor of Health Science at Adelaide University before moving to Sydney in 2003 to study medicine at Sydney University, graduating with Honours in 2007.
Her medical training began at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and she undertook her dermatology specialist training at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, Royal North Shore Hospital and Liverpool Hospital and also spent some time in rural locations. After completing her specialist training she worked in NSW at The Skin and Cancer Foundation.
Dr Christou's dermatology special interests include skin cancer, psoriasis, acne, paediatric dermatology, vulval dermatology, and hyperhidrosis. She is involved in dermatology teaching and training of nurses, general practitioners and dermatology registrars and has published in local and international peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Cassandra Chaptini is a dermatologist who is a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists. She graduated from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2013. Subsequently she undertook specialty dermatology training in Adelaide, gaining extensive experience working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
During her training, Dr Chaptini was awarded the esteemed Australasian College of Dermatologists’ Travelling Fellowship at St John's Institute of Dermatology, London. Spending two years working at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, she gained exposure to a range of sub-specialty and rare dermatological conditions.
